Representatives of SAPVIA’s Grid Access Unit Steering Committee met with Wolfgang Bohmer, Roy Estment, Kevin Leask and Bernard Magoro from Eskom on the 11th October at Megawatt Park . The purpose of the meeting was to introduce SAPVIA’s Grid Access Sub-Committee; and to continue the discussion around the grid connection issues encountered by project developers in terms of the RE IPPP programme, with the aim of developing solutions to overcome them. 23 August 2012: The PPCE invited SAREC to an Energy Stakeholder Meeting (ESM) which was held on Thursday 30 August 2012 in Parliament, Cape Town. The topic for the ESM was: “Exploring solutions to challenges on financing and certification on locally produced renewable products” . SAPVIA met with Eskom representatives from their Grid Access Unit on the 29th of March at Megawatt Park in Johannesburg. The agenda for the meeting is available for download and the minutes of the meeting will be posted as soon as SAPVIA receives them from Eskom.
SAPVIA, along with SESSA, SAWEA and SASTELA, is part of a steering committee whose mandate it is to set up the South African Renewable Energy Council (SAREC). The steering committee has been meeting on a weekly basis and the minutes of those meetings are available for download here.
The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA), the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) and the South African Solar Thermal and Electricity Association (SASTELA), consisting collectively of more than 90 member companies active in the renewable energy sector, have requested a meeting with the DAFF. The meeting will take place on the 8th of November 2011.
